Hyperlocal Air Quality

Introducing our new global satellite-derived air quality service

Rapid urbanisation, growing populations, and increasing car ownership mean that over 92% of the global population are experiencing the adverse effects of air pollution.

As a result, sustainability is at the forefront of many minds; with the majority fearing the detrimental impact air quality has on health, home, children and future.

Many consumers are now connecting with companies who care about sustainability and are using their spending power to drive environmental change. A recent survey found that a third of consumers are willing to spend more on an eco-friendly brand, device or model.

Our Partners

King's College London ERG

The King's College London Environmental Research Group (ERG) is one of the UK’s leading providers of detailed dispersion modelling assessments, detailed urban emissions inventories, and are increasingly working on research into the health impacts and toxicity of air pollution.

European Space Agency

The European Space Agency (ESA) is Europe's gateway to space. Its mission is to shape the development of Europe's space capability and ensure that investment in space continues to deliver benefits to the citizens of Europe and the world. ESA awarded TCarta and King's College London ERG funding to develop advanced capability for satellite-derived traffic counting and air quality modelling.

Our Users

We’re actively looking for partners to test the value of air quality to their business. We’re currently working alongside industry leaders in the automotive, transport, engineering and public sectors.

Automotive

Using hyperlocal quality to enable cars to take "intelligent gulps of air" into the car for passenger safety and comfort. The index created also alerts passengers when to close their windows and air vents.

Transport

Using hyperlocal quality data to understand the impact of the transport system on the environment. It also enables our user to determine how they can improve their technology to reduce this impact, alongside designing better mobility systems that optimise travel and air quality.

Engineering

Using hyperlocal quality data to provide input into Environmental Impact Assessments and engineering schemes.

Public Sector

Using hyperlocal quality data to understand the health burden of air pollution on city/country populations; leading to the formation of life-enhancing, protective policies.

Our Approach

In collaboration with King's College London, TCarta has harnessed the power of AI, high resolution satellite data and air pollution modelling to produce highly accurate air pollution maps for cities around the globe.

Our global hyperlocal air quality index is:

  • Derived using global satellite images
  • Ultra-high 20m resolution
  • Modelled using both natural & man-made pollutants
  • Enhanced through vehicle-counting to improve vehicle emissions modelling
